Emily Bronte was born in 1818 and died 1848, she lived in Thornton Yorkshire in the North of England.
She grew up on the moors in England by a graveyard where the families water channel was built. Her last name was legally changed from Brunty to Bronte by her father. Emily was one of six children. Her mother died when she was younger and was left to live with her eccentric father and five other siblings. Others described her as a bit eccentric, caring for animals more than humans.
Her only book Wuthering Heights was named demonic in her era but today it is known as a masterpiece. Emily was the genius among her three sisters in her poetry and her only novel because she was imaginative and powerful in her writing. Charlotte, Anne, and Emily wrote a novel together using pseudonym names as the author because being a female author at the time was looked down on. The novel only sold 2 copies. Her writing described her life especially Wuthering Heights. It is said that Emily suffered from anorexia from depriviing herself of food because she felt miserable. Little is known about the Bronte sisters but their life is described in their poems and novels. Emily lived to be 30 years old.
